Another day, another rooster

A rooster walks down the street in Accra:


This is a pretty standard sight. Roosters run all over the streets here -- they also wake us up before the sun even rises in the morning. (I thought roosters crowed at the crack of dawn, but apparently dawn cracks earlier than I expected -- more like 3:30, 4 a.m.)

This fellow is running alongside a gutter/sewer in the street (to the left in the picture). This street is more built-up than many in Accra, as some of the gutter is covered with pavement for cars to cross, rather than a grate or a pile of boards.

On the white wall on the right is a painted stencil of an adinkra symbol that's ubiquitous here. We're told it stands for "gye nyame," which means either "accept god" or "except for god," depending on the translation you're reading.
