We Are Taking a Wee Trip

On Friday we are going away to the City of Cape Coast for the weekend. It is the start of an autumn festival called, Oguaa Fetu Afahye, which translates literally to “adorning of new clothes.” It also has something to do with the opening of a lake so that it drains into the ocean. No one has been able to explain it to me better than that.

I hope to have an explanation when we get back.

This festival is a very big deal. The local chiefs and traditional militia’s all dress in their traditional clothing and parade through the streets.

We had a hard time getting accommodations. We finally had to settle on a place with hot water and air conditioning, not what we had originally planned on, but what the hell, the conditions under which we must endure are staggering.

You can be sure that once there we will soldier on. Maybe even we will come back with some photo’s that can be posted.

If there’s electricity.
