It's safe to use billboards as landmarks for finding certain locations in Accra because they're clearly not changed very often:



I visited the national blood bank last week for a story that will run in tomorrow's paper. Here's the sign hanging in the waiting room:



"Truck pushers" are guys who push around giant wagons loaded with anything from coconuts to scrap metal to, in this case, locally collected refuse, probably for burning in a nearby field.



My infamy continues: the gay + lesbian story was picked up by AllAfrica.com, a site that indexes news items from hundreds of African news sources. There are also almost 200 comments on the story on the GhanaWeb site, which apparently makes it a very hot topic of conversation.

And, I'm sad to report, CBC Manitoba's Colour of Our Skin website did not make the Gemini Award's "most popular website" shortlist. Didn't you guys vote?! Just kidding. Honestly, who could expect the likes of us to compete with the juggernauts of Canadian Idol, Corner Gas and Falcon Beach? You can mutter under your breath at the finalists here.
